Self-health Monitoring for Severe Pneumonia with Novel Pathogens 嚴重特殊傳染性肺炎自主健康管理措施
Since you have recently been in contact with persons diagnosed with or at risk of developing COVID-19, you are required to follow the self-health management measures stated as follows in order to reduce the risk of possible transmission. To ensure the safety of yourself and others, please keep to the following regimen for 14 days, starting from your last possible contact.
- Stay home except to get medical care and wear a facemask (surgical mask)
You should restrict activities outside your home, except for getting medical care. Do not go to work, school, or public areas. Do not use public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis. Separate yourself from other people in your home.
As much as possible, you should stay in a specific room and away from other people in your home. You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office.
- Clean your hands
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, covering all surfaces of your hands and rubbing them together until they feel dry. Soap and water should be used preferentially if hands are visibly dirty. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
If you have a cough or other respiratory symptoms, you should wear a facemask. Observe respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette by covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief when you cough or sneeze. Throw used tissues in a lined trash can and wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds should they come in contact with respiratory secretions.
- Check body temperature
Check your temperature once every morning/evening during the 14 days of health monitoring.
- If no symptoms develop, you may return to life as normal. However, it is recommended that you avoid going to public places, and postpone all non-urgent medical care. Whenever needed, always wear a surgical mask when leaving your home.
- If you have a fever (≥ 38℃), experience a loss of taste or smell, suffer from diarrhea, or develop respiratory symptoms, wear a surgical mask and seek medical help immediately. Avoid public transportation, and when seeing your doctor, actively disclose recent travel and contact history, occupational exposures, and information on close contacts who may suffer from similar symptoms.
- While waiting for your COVID-19 test results, stay home and monitor your health. If you are diagnosed with COVID-19, health officials will contact you and help arrange for further medical care. If you test negative, you should adhere to the self-health management measures for 14 days. If your symptoms progress during quarantine, contact your local health officials or call 1922. If medical treatment is advised, always wear a surgical mask when leaving your home and avoid public transportations.
