The center is currently focusing on the application of clinical data in the hospital and actively nurturing the younger generation of hospital clinicians. It is expected to become the best clinical research assistant for younger doctors, so that the center's clinical hypothesis can be verified by the hospital database and published at the medical associations at home and abroad, showing CMUH’s research potential.
Another important feature of the center is the industry-academia research and development platform for the analysis of hospital data and the development of relevant clinical information assistance systems for the purpose of improving medical quality, hoping to translate into industrial goods and help improve the medical safety and quality of the people.
Mission and Functions
1. Establish a database and statistical analysis platform for electronic medical records
Integrate and regularize all the structured electronic medical records in the hospital, and integrate unstructured data, such as written reports and image reports, as well as through machine learning and other technologies obtain information provided by related reports, and construct relevant database platforms. Provide analytical data according to staff needs and use the platform to evaluate the feasibility of the research topic.
2. Assist the clinical divisions to establish and integrate thematic databases
The center is to assist clinical divisions to set up different theme databases, and connect them with electronic medical records, so as to help hospital staff conduct long-term research on different subjects.
3. Help hospital staff to carry out research design and statistical analysis
The center is scheduled to assist hospital staff in the research and design of research projects, and make use of the above database platforms, thematic databases or open data to conduct data collation and statistical analysis based on research and design.
4. Offer courses on medical big data programming, tools, or methods, and epidemiology or medical biostatistics
Experts from different fields, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analysis, epidemiology, and biometrics, are occasionally invited to provide training for hospital staff.
