Our Speciality
The center's multidisciplinary team members include physicians and surgeons, psychiatrists, TCM division doctors, case managers, nutritionists, clinical psychologists, sports therapists, nurses, and strategy managers. Regarding hardware facilities, the operation rooms, the wards, and the outpatient clinics are all integrated into the center to provide a full range of premium-quality treatment options.
Bariatric and diabetes surgery includes gastric bypass, gastric narrowing, mini gastric reduction, gastric folds, gastric banding, gastric banding folding, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and intestinal bypass surgery. The attending physician will suggest an appropriate therapy by assessing the physical condition of the case, the results of the health examination, and personal habits.
As there are a host of physiological and psychosocial factors related to obesity, the center provides relevant medical resources according to the needs of the case. For example, some cases used to eat to relieve stress before the operation, after which their mood was affected due to lack of proper ways to relieve stress. At this time, a clinical psychologist's assistance is required.
Dean Chih-kun Huang set up the Taiwan Obesity Support Association, giving backing for weight loss support groups. According to the center's survey, the proportion of morbidly obese cases coupled with psychological and eating disorders is up to 44%. Therefore, case managers, nutritionists, and clinical psychologists are needed for their assistance before and after the operation.
As early as October 2009, Dean Chih-kun Huang attained certification as an international surgeon of excellence, so that the opportunity to communicate with international organizations has increased a lot. The center has become the first choice in Asia for patients with obesity and metabolic diseases to seek treatment. At present, patients from China, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and other countries have come to the center for therapy.
