Bone screw and bone plate implants

Description

As one of the methods to assist with fracture healing, bone screws and bone plates are often used for facial bone fracture or hand fracture. The main purpose is to assist with fracture healing as soon as possible. Whether to use them or not is decided after full discussion with the doctor.

When to Use

• Reduction of facial bone fracture
• Reduction of hand fracture
• Other positions require bone screw and bone plate implants for surgical needs

Possible Side Effects

• Bone screws and bone plates become loose and require further surgery
• Tissue or wound infection from the implant
• The fracture does not heal and requires further surgery
• Restriction of motion or abnormal sensation of heat and cold due to implants

Postoperative Care

• A cold packing should be given for swelling caused by the implant, and antibiotics should be administered regularly according to the doctor's instructions.
• An immediate return visit is required for any abnormal secretion, redness, swelling, heat or pain of the wound.
• Before discharge, the primary caregiver should know the steps of wound care. If you have any questions, please consult your doctor or nurse for relevant information.
