What can one do after an occupational accident? 發生「職災」怎麼辦?

Step 1: Report Occupational Accidents

  • Occupational Accident: Immediately and voluntarily notify the unit supervisor or employer and provide relevant information about the accident, including the date and situations of occurrence.
  • Content of Report: The occupational injury/disease case manager will contact you and assist you to report the following content to the Occupational Safety and Health Committee: name, title of injury/disease, contact method.

Step 2: Diagnosis of Injury and Disease

  • Occupational Injury:  The injury caused by accidents due to “task performance” or “on the way to or back from work” without major violations.
  • Occupational Disease: Provide evidence of disease (ultrasound and x-ray films) and  explicit hazardous factors in work (physical, chemical, or biological) with diagnosis and evaluation from “occupational medical specialist doctors from accredited medical institutions.”

Step 3: Requisition for Benefits

  • Medical Benefits for Occupational Accidents: Present the “Occupational Injury/Disease Medical Form” for medical treatment.
  • Exempt from national health insurance co-payment.
  • 50% off meal expenses in 30 days of hospitalization.
  • Occupational Accident Benefits: Those who could not work during the treatment period and could not receive the due salary starting from the 4th day on.
  • Occupational Disability/Death Benefits: Diagnosed of permanent disability/death, meeting eligibility for benefit standards.

Step 4: Medical Treatment

  • Regularly revisit hospital for follow-up and treatment: Follow the  scheduled by the specialist doctor and regularly revisit to follow up the recovery conditions.
  • Accept medical rehabilitation treatment: Receive rehabilitation or intensified treatment, in addition to recover functional motions.
  • Take the evaluation on return to work from the doctor of occupational medical science: Take the evaluation from the specialist doctor of occupational medical science, verify the proper rest schedule to evaluate the timing for returning to work /assignment with the company supervisors. 

Step 5: Preparation for return to work

  • Discuss with the company for the estimated return-to-work date and job content: Maintain to contact the company representative and explain the recovery conditions and the assistance needed for returning to work.
  • Eevaluation of restructuring service demand: Related service demand evaluation, job content analysis and capacity evaluation.
  • Develop work strength training program: including physical strength training or redesigning work task.  

Step 6: Return to Work

  • After returning to the workplace, the case manager will continue to follow up your conditions for 3~6 months until your conditions have stabilized after returning to work.
  • Return to the workplace through the “Return-to-Work Program” with success.
