At China Medical University Hospital (CMUH), we strengthen international connections through meaningful exchanges with leading medical institutions, sharing perspectives and exploring opportunities for future collaboration.

Through the Taiwan Digital Health Institute (TDHI) at CMUH, led by Professor Yang C. Fann, we welcomed Shauna Overgaard, Ph.D., to China Medical University and its affiliated healthcare institutions. Dr. Overgaard serves as Senior Director of AI Strategy & Frameworks and Co-Director of the AI Validation & Stewardship Program at Mayo Clinic.

On October 2, Dr. Overgaard delivered a lecture titled “The Architecture of Assurance.” She shared how rigorous validation, governance, and continuous monitoring help translate AI innovation into safe, reliable clinical practice, offering valuable insights into bridging AI research and everyday care.

At the heart of the exchange was a shared commitment: putting patients’ needs first. Dr. Overgaard highlighted this common ground between Mayo Clinic and CMUH, emphasizing that AI’s value must be demonstrated in practice, through how it supports clinical teams, responds to patient needs, and contributes to meaningful improvements in care.
