Due to the limitation of medical technology and technology, clinicians in the past hardly made precise diagnosis, prevention, prediction and treatment. Until 2003, the human genome project decoded "human genes and disease-related instructions". The world was excited. Because the entire gene analysis technology has not yet been commercialized, the cost is too high, which makes it difficult to apply for clinical application. However, with the progress of science and technology, the popularity of gene sequencing device and the understanding of gene information, we now finally can understand the complex mechanism of diseases, and use the information to perform personal precise medical treatment for patients.
Since the former President of United States, Obama, proposed Precision Medicine Program to the State of the Union in January 2015, the world officially entered the era of precision medicine. As early as in 2013, China Medical University Hospital has initiated the detections associated to the genetic information. Precision medical research was considered as one of the most important directions of development in in August 2015, and a lot of money and manpower were put into the research. After the active involve of all physicians in the hospital, on the one hand, the core technology, gene sequencing and bioinformatics analysis system of precision medicine were established, and on the one hand, the gene analysis of various difficult diagnosis diseases was carried out. In order to serve more patients, the Department of Genomics Detection was established, which is certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and is one of the institutes certificated for rare Exome sequencing in the country.
