The Kidney Medical Center was established in the Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University on 2008/7/30.
The Kidney Medical Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Cancer Center Building and covers an area of 1487.60325 m2 to provide a comfortable, spacious and bright treatment space for patients.

Currently, the center is also known as a kidney specialist training hospital, a hemodialysis nursing staff training hospital, and a peritoneal dialysis nursing staff training hospital. The center is a chronic renal health promotion agency designated by the National Health Bureau. Since its establishment on 2003/12/30, the plan for prevention and treatment of chronic kidney disease has been promoted and a total of 11,611 people with chronic kidney disease have been assisted can cared for to gain achievements.
The medical team in the Kidney Medical Center consists of 21 pediatric nephrologists, 5 nephrologists, 16 urologists, 106 dialysis nurses, 3 chronic kidney disease educators, 1 kidney transplant case manager, 4 technicians, 3 attendants, 2 secretaries, 1 social worker, 1 nutritionist and 2 volunteer workers.
The Kidney Medical Center is responsible for promoting services and research related to the dialysis and transplantation in Taichung Central Hospital and its six branches all over Taiwan.
Our hospital completed the first case of living kidney transplant in October of 1992 and completed the first case of kidney transplant in March of 1993. It is a kidney transplant pioneer in central Taiwan. According to the Central Health Insurance Bureau, the survival rate after 5 years of kidney transplant in the hospital was 95% in 2013 and 2014, which was among the highest in Taiwan. At present, 93 cases of kidney transplants from family members and 107 cases of kidney transplants from strangers have been completed in our department.
The Kidney Health Center provides chronic kidney disease education and disease management. The health education team provides common knowledge and precautions on kidney care and self-care for patients and their families to delay the progression of chronic kidney disease. In addition to counseling, the Kidney Health Center also regularly conducts community screening, holds nephropathy prevention and treatment seminars and provides low-protein meal boxes for chronic kidney patients to control their diet.
The Kidney Medical Center actively promotes the prevention and treatment of nephrology and related advanced treatment methods, develops the latest treatment technologies, conducts a full range of kidney disease research, and exchanges with internationally renowned kidney medical centers. In the future, the Kidney Medical Center will march towards creating a world-class kidney medical center.
