Cancer has been the top leading cause of death in Taiwan with approximately 100 people died of cancer daily. It means one quater of all causes of death in Taiwan was cancer-related. The CMUH Cancer Center is one of the best comprehensive cancer centers in Asia Pacific region. Our physicians and researchers are at the forefront of setting new guidelines for breakthrough medical procedures and comprehensive oncological care.
The disease characteristics and progression of cancers may vary widely. The professional views on the diagnosis, clinical stages, and treatment of cancer can also divergent. Although early diagnosis is still viewed as the key element to treatment sucess, people continue to have the misperception that treatments of terminal stage cancer is rarely effective, which has led many people to believe that cancer is incurable. However, with the recent advances in medicine and biotechnology, more than one half of cancer patients can now be cured. Such a endevor requires multidisciplinary teamwork and syndicated health care that can be best delivered in medical centers.
