Poly-L-Lactic Acid Injection 聚左旋乳酸注射(英文)
2021/1/6
Poly-L-lactic acid
Sculptra®’s main ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is injected into the deep dermis or subcutaneous tissue layer and can immediately produce a temporary filling effect. A few days later, when the water is absorbed by the body, it temporarily returns to the skin condition before the injection. The PLLA that remains will begin to work gradually on disintegration and release in the skin tissue, stimulating fibroblasts and increasing the production of collagen and elastic fibers for a plump effect. Finally, PLLA will gradually break down and be absorbed by the body naturally.
Indications
- Facial sculpting that increases facial skin elasticity, with more natural, gradual and lasting effects.
- Cheeks, temples and other sunken parts of the face.
- Smile lines, marionette lines, smoothing jaw lines and other deep and shallow lines.
- Flabby and inelastic facial skin.
Contraindications
- Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and who are breastfeeding.
- For those who are taking aspirin or anticoagulants, it is recommended that PLLA be administered three days after discontinuance to avoid serious bruising. (Note: Special physical condition or illness may have different risks. Please be sure to tell your doctor about your complete condition.)
Notes after surgery
- Avoid contact with the injection area within 24 hours, during which time you can gently clean it with water and soap.
- After treatment, there will be temporary redness and swelling on the skin. Applying an ice compress within 24 hours can help ease swelling and bruising.
- Within 3 days after treatment, avoid using irritating drugs (e.g. retinoic acid and AHA) and exfoliating products, and do not stay in high temperature places (e.g. sauna, beside an oven, hot spring).
- The injection site should be massaged in a circular motion for 5 consecutive days, five times a day, five minutes each time.
- Delayed nodules may occur at the injection site, as well as local lumps, nodules, papules and granuloma.
Treatment interval
- Each person's skin structure, lifestyle, age, and satisfaction may affect the injection results indirectly or directly.
- It is advised to receive multiple treatments, usually about 2~3 times, with each course interval of 4~6 weeks to achieve therapeutic effect.
