Newborn Hearing Screening 新生兒聽力篩檢

2025/5/5
  • The auditory nerve of the baby is functioning since birth. According to statistics, the incidence of congenital moderate and severe hearing impairment in both ears is about 1-2 out of 1,000 newborns.
  • For the purpose of "early detection and early treatment," the pediatrics department of our hospital specially adopts advanced and precision detection instruments to screen babies for the hearing, so as to know whether they have hearing impairment in advance.
  • A hearing screening is a quick test and does not cause adverse side effects to the baby.
  • This examination is covered by the National Health Insurance (NHI) program and our hospital can provide screening services. If the hospital that delivered the baby does not provide screening services or fails to complete screening before discharge, they can still carry the NHI card of the baby or mother (when their baby is under 3 months) to our hospital for screening as soon as possible after discharge.
  • If the newborn fails the hearing screening, please go to the otorhinolaryngology department for further examination.
